Sharlene started her career in Auckland as an auditor for Deloitte. After three years, she returned to the Hawke's Bay and moved into the Business Advisory arena, helping a wide range of clients to maximise their profits while minimising tax. She became a Director at Baker Tilly Staples Rodway in 2004 and proceeded to grow her client base using skills she had gained in the early stages of her career.

In recent years, Sharlene has also become involved in advising financially distressed clients on all facets of insolvency and restructuring, helping them to ease pressures during times of uncertainty.
