Chris Downey

Business Advisory Services, Director, Tauranga

A Director of Baker Tilly Staples Rodway since 1999, Chris has earned a reputation for his ability to think laterally, giving him an advantage in meeting the diverse needs of his clients. In his experience as a Chartered Accountant he has gained expertise in management accounting, taxation and financial services for commercial and non-profit clients. He has also worked extensively within the building, development and motor vehicle industries.

He is responsible for the IT and systems sector of the practice, both internally and externally. Along with his experienced IT and systems team Chris applies his signature pragmatic approach to this somewhat challenging role enabling him to cope with the constant technological changes it presents.

  • Systems and software scoping, development and implementation
  • Scoping and developing management reporting mechanisms, including identifying key performance indicators
  • Advising on group structures to minimise tax and maximise creditor protection and ownership opportunities
  • Management reporting projects to identify and evaluate expansion and growth opportunities
