Baker Tilly Staples Rodway Taranaki IT Director, Rob McEwan presented a cheque for $1,000 to the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter Trust this month following the Staples Rodway Taranaki Business Breakfast in which ticket sales were kindly donated to the charity.
Many well known faces of Taranaki’s thriving business community attended the Taranaki Business Breakfast on Tuesday 28th March in support of the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter Trust. The Breakfast was held to educate business professionals on the upcoming changes to the local economy including Tax and PAYE updates as well as cyber security issues.
The $1,000 will go towards supporting their rescue missions which has saved over 4,000 people over the past 25 years. With a recent bill of $250,000 to repair the Rescue Helicopter, this donation has been greatly received and the Trust welcomes any other fundraising initiatives.
Taranaki Rescue Helicopter Trust General Manager, Andy Cronin said: “There is a huge amount of money needed for general maintenance of the helicopter in order to keep it in action. The free service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, carrying out rescue missions in some of the region’s most rural and isolated areas. Any donations we receive are incredibly important so that we can keep responding to emergencies as we currently do.”
Manager Andy Cronin said anyone who contributed either money or their time to the service became part of the organisation.
“Thank you to the business community for your support and to Staples Rodway who continue to provide us with their expertise including IT support, Audit and Accounting services. Without their diverse range of services we would be unable to provide the level of support to the community that we currently provide.”
The trust has been working on strategies to get Taranaki businesses and the public aboard and has just relaunched its Friends campaign by asking people to spare a minute to save a life and sign up to the scheme.
“We need more businesses to come forward with their support. Repairing the Helicopter is an ongoing thing due to us working in very harsh conditions over salt water and iron sand. If you make a donation, you are part of what enables us to make that difference in people’s lives.”
