Sybrand joined Baker Tilly Staples Rodway Tauranga in 2013 as a senior tax manager having spent two years with Baker Tilly Staples Rodway in Christchurch. Sybrand enjoys advising a large range of clients. He also advises accounting and law firms in need of specialist tax advice, and a number of charitable organisations.

Sybrand was appointed a Director of the firm in February 2020.

Sybrand's prior roles include:
Four years with big 4 accounting practices (including 2 years spent in the Channel Islands, UK);
Three years with Christchurch law firms specialising in taxation; and
Three years as a policy analyst advising the Government on Tax Policy working for the Inland Revenue Department.
