Did you know that employee errors were at the heart of IT breaches in 2018* (Source: CBS Interactive Inc report, 2019) and a large percentage of those breaches started with a simple email being opened (phishing)?

Cyber criminals both organised crime and opportunist hackers are out there in force, trying to find ways to steal your data (both your own and that of your clients), hold you to ransom, or hurt your business reputation.

Here are few simple tips to help you avoid cyber-attacks and maintain strong controls on your business IT systems.

  • Don’t operate your computer with Administrator-level privileges
  • Ensure operating systems and software are patched and kept up-to-date
  • Remove software you don’t need
  • Always run anti-malware software and keep it up-to-date
  • Make sure to back up your data frequently
  • Encrypt your data
  • Educate your staff
  • Have a plan
  • Dispose of old systems carefully

If any of these IT security tips aren’t automatically easy for you or your team, or you have other IT requirements you’d like to discuss (e.g. software/hardware requirements, IT strategy, cloud based solutions, training) then you may like to consider working with our qualified, accredited and experienced IT team.
